"Chasing Billy Caldwell" chases the life of an obscure, 19th century Indian-Canadian settler through the streets of the affluent Chicago neighborhood that sits on his land and bears his invented name. Compiled from scant facts about his life, carefully composed footage shot in the neighborhood that now sits on his land, and a letter written by Caldwell to his brother, the video meditates on history and memory, identity and loyalty, landscape and amnesia.
